Ancient Egypt has really grabbed our imagination this term and we are continuing to use this as a stimulus for our learning across the curriculum.  In Maths Week Scotland, for example, we explored pyramids and other 3D shapes before constructing pyramids using a range of materials including marshmallows and spaghetti.  We are particularly pleased with the giant pyramid which is being made out of boxes and paper.  This includes lots of details including a temple at the front for prayers and secret passageways.  In Maths Week Scotland we also looked at Ancient Egyptian numbers and decoded their number hieroglyphs.
There has been a lot of opportunity for craft work this term and we have enjoyed making our own clay mummies wrapped in bandages and our own sarcophagus (coffin) and canopic jars to hold the body parts!
