Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death in children in the UK. The Drowning Prevention campaign is run by the Royal Life Saving Society UK and aims to reduce the number of drowning and non-fatal water related incidents that occur in the UK every year, by showing people how to stay safe and have fun near water.
Scottish Borders Council are supporting Drowning Prevention Week by promoting safety messages and information through newsletters and various social media platforms. We would be extremely grateful if you could also share some of this information through your school social media and news platforms so that parents and children can educate themselves of the associated dangers and the ways to stay safe around water.
